Hello world!
The very first Typotreats is here!
Hello!
You’re receiving this because you have either bought something from me or have signed up via my instagram account. Let me first say, if you do not wish to be subscribed to this email you can easily opt out - just hit unsubscribe and you won’t receive anything further from me.
Formalities over, I’m glad you’re here and I’m happy to be able to connect with you on a platform that feels less about the algorithms and more free to chat about all things letters in a more long-form way with lots of inspiring visuals and links.
If you need a recap, I’m Emma Luczyn, a lettering artist and graphic designer based in Stroud, in the South West of England. I take on freelance lettering work but also have a foot in the Graphic Design world. A lot of my lettering work is inspired by colourful, bold, graphic styles so I guess you could say they intersect, and you might be able to see that through my work.
This has been something I’ve wanted to do for a while and I was very inspired and encouraged by my friend Elliot J Stocks and his newsletter, which is full of great type-related content, knowledge and resources.
So here goes, Found Type Friday will now reside solely on this newsletter, if that’s the stuff you enjoy seeing on my Instagram, stay subscribed. The first newsletter-based instalment is mere paragraphs away.
I’ll also be sharing links to things that inspire me, be it podcasts, people’s work, typefaces I’ve been enjoying or random things I see out in the wild which I think you guys would enjoy too.
I also want to use this as a form of documenting and sharing my process through my various lettering jobs and generally give you a window into what I’m working on. I’ve also just started learning Glyphs and am attempting to design type using Viktor Baltus’ video class – more on that in future newsletter editions.
Right, that’s enough words – onto the fun stuff. Here are some examples of amazing found type that I’ve collected lately.

I’m going to keep it short for this first edition while I gauge feedback and plan my next email. I have some really exciting stuff to announce and show you so keep your eyes peeled for the next one.
Thanks for reading and feel free to hit reply if you’d like to chat about anything you see on here. I love to nerd-out and learn more. Also feel free to feedback if there’s anything you’d like to see from me or if anything went wrong with this email.
‘Till next time.
Emma
